Assessment
I provide evidence-based and playful assessments, at your pace. I assess and diagnose autism, cognitive profiles, adhd, anxiety, etc., and share practical recommendations for teachers and parents.
Formal assessments and diagnoses are often required for various financial and school supports, and are also helpful when considering therapy options.
As one of the only DIR/Floortime trained psychologists in Calgary,
I also go beyond initial labels to investigate your child's individual developmental capacities in detail. By considering the whole child, we can tailor our strategies just for them, while they simply have fun and be a kid!
Counselling and Consultation
Meltdowns, tantrums, social skills, interest in peers, attention, focus, speaking, play skills, hitting, biting, eating, toileting, sleeping...so much happening in such tiny humans! When some skills are taking longer than others, there are ways to help.
DIR/Floortime is an evidence-backed, play-based, respectful method of building on strengths while acknowledging and facing the reality of challenges head-on.

My work has a solid foundation in DIR/Floortime and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics. I also use Cognitive Behavioural, Mindfulness, Play, and Art therapy techniques.
With all that said, what truly happens is simply play!

My name is Joanna.
I'm a Calgary-based child psychologist and I understand that tight, heavy feeling in the chest and stomach that comes with searching for the right help. I've spent close to 2 decades supporting young children and parents when developmental milestones seem stuck or different. I believe there is nothing wrong with your child - but with a deeper understanding of the 'why' and 'how', we can take real-life practical steps towards peace and clarity.
